     NATIONAL ASTRONOMY WEEK 2008 OPENING ACTIVITY IMAGES

Below are images taken at the opening activity of the National Astronomy Week 2008 at the SM Science Discovery Center in SM Mall of Asia. Click each image for bigger view. Please note that there are lots of images thus it might take a while for all of them to be viewed. Nevertheless, it's worth the wait!!!

Astrophoto Exhibit was open for the Science Discovery Center's visitors to view the beauty of the heavens.

ALPer Kristy Anne Abello introduced ALP President James Kevin Ty as the the speaker of the day on Basic Digital Astrophotography.

ALP President James Kevin Ty disucssed his lecture in laymen's term so the crowd can easily understand the topic.

ALP members as well as guest listen attentively so they can understand how they can start doing basic astrophotography with their digital camera.

James discussed the various imaging tools that can be use in astrophotography.

Planetarium staff members listen attentively on the lecture so that they can apply the skills and tips that they will learn from the lecture.

ALP members posed beside one of the numerous  telescopes brought along by ALP for the event.

ALPers help setup the 6" dobsonian reflector.

Saturn Rocks!

Science Discovery Center (SDC) Marketing Manager Lara Marie Lua posed with ALP directors and officers (L-R) Jett Aguilar, James Kevin Ty and Brian Davis.

SDC Marketing Officer Jeffrey Cifra had a duet with Sofia to the delight of the crowd.

There was a large crowd at the observation site despite the bad weather as they waited for the stars, Saturn and Moon to show up through clear openings in the sky.

GMA-7 Reporter Meann Los Banos interview some of the viewers at the site and try to know their experience looking through the telescopes.

Wow! Nice view of the Moon!

GMA-7 reporter Meann Los Banos also had a great time looking the the craters of the Moon!

Everyone patiently waited for their turn to look at the Moon and Saturn.

Yong and old alike all enjoy observing the Moon!

Planetarium's Nel Lagda used a C8 telescope to show the crowd the beauty of the heavens.

Members of the Astronomical League of the Philippines (ALP) as well as SM Science Discovery Center posed for posterity after the conclusion on the opening day activity of the National Astronomy Week 2008 held at SM Mall of Asia.
